美国研究人员发现,会下棋的小学生比不会下棋的同龄人在阅读考试中的分数要高出10%,学棋5年的孩子比那些没有接触过棋类的孩子在阅读理解方面要高出4.3个学分,而在数学方面要高出6.4个学分。
宾夕法尼亚州的一项研究进一步证明,下棋的孩子在各项心理测验中都处于领先,其中鉴定思维高出13%、创造性思维高出35%。
其实,跳出这些棋类运动所能带来的通用好处,国际象棋还有其独特的迷人之处。
国际象棋有很多很好的理念,比如小兵可以升变——说明无论出身如何,只要努力都有机会改变命运、获得成功;皇帝可以满棋盘的御驾亲征、自己投入战斗,显示了平等的价值观。
掌握了国际象棋,就像是掌握了一门国际通用的“社交密钥”,无论走到哪里,都可以“以棋会友”,用智慧与他人交流,迅速融入陌生环境,拉近彼此间的距离。接触的人多了,见过了更广的世面,孩子的心胸和格局自然就大了。

Level 1 ( Beginner)
We will learn:
1. The starting position including board set-up. The chess pieces names. Piece movement and capture:pawn (2 and 1 square moves), bishop (stuck in one colour),rook,Queen,King (not castling),Knight. Capture takes a move.
2. Board coordinates.
3. The value of the pieces.
4. Defending a piece.
5. King cannot capture a defended piece .Cannot move into check.
6. Capture exercises .
7. Chaturanga and FIDE.
8. Pawn promotion: knight, bishop, rook or queen but not pawn or king. Must promote .
9. Check and avoidance of check.
10. The end of the game:checkmate and three necessary conditions.
11. Tournament code of conduct.
12. The 6 draws :Stalemate ,insufficient material, position repetition, agreement, 50 move rule, clock.
13. Castling basics : a king move, develop rook and safety for king,King-side,Queen-side.
